The Toronto chapter of the Canadian Public Relations Society conducted its annual Achieving Communications Excellence Awards last week. The awards recognize achievement in public relations in the Greater Toronto Area. PR Campaign of the Year was awarded to Weber Shandwick and McDonald's Canada for the grocery store launch of the McCafé Coffee brand. The Best Creative PR Campaign award went to Apex Public Relations and Walmart Canada for the retail chain's back-to-school campaign.
Additional gold award winners included: Kaiser Lachance Communications and Wealth Simple; Lamb Creative Group and Yves Veggie Cuisine; DDB Public Relations and CIL; Strategic Objectives and Second Cup; Hill&Knowlton Strategies Canada; Toronto Public Health; Strategic Objectives and Kellogg; Toronto Hydro; Narrative PR and Bayer; and Centennial College.
The Lois Marsh Award was given to Barry Waite, chair of School of Communications, Media & Design at Centennial College. Arden Bagni of Humber College was named Volunteer of the Year. Jessica Grace Chong of Centennial College was named Student of the Year.
