Tangerine begins Bright Way Forward program

Toronto-based bank Tangerine has begun a new sponsorship initiative called "Bright Way Forward." The initiative will be conducted in association with Canada Basketball, Steve Nash Youth Basketball and a number of charitable organizations to support community programs intended to inspire self-esteem, teamwork, leadership, belonging and acceptance among young people. The sponsorship will also involve the participation of professional basketball player Steve Nash.

"Tangerine's purpose is to help Canadians live better lives, so our new sponsorship and community investment platform, 'Bright Way Forward,' fits really well," said Peter Aceto, president and CEO of Tangerine. "Our recent transition to Tangerine provided an opportunity to highlight a new, exciting direction for us in this area, while building on our longstanding legacy of giving back to communities across Canada. We are honoured to be working with Canadian superstar Steve Nash, as well as a number of highly respected partners and charitable organizations, to bring this program to life across the country.

The "Bright Way Forward" campaign will begin with support for United Way Toronto, ACCES Employment, FoodShare, Unity Charity, the YMCA of Greater Toronto and Youth Without Shelter. A website for the initiative has been constructed at <http://www.brightwayforward.ca>. Tangerine is a subsidiary of The Bank of Nova Scotia.
