Travel Alberta conducts online winter campaign

Travel Alberta has begun a content marketing campaign with Yahoo. The winter campaign, running in Canada and the US, is intended to promote the province's outdoor activities to potential travelers. The content includes images and videos of various Alberta destinations, taken from Travel Alberta's Travel Planner, Campground Guide, Accommodation Guide and Parks Guide. The campaign includes Tumblr sponsored posts, native ads on Yahoo properties and display advertising. In the US, native ads will run Yahoo digital magazines, including Yahoo Travel. The effort also makes use of a Tumblr page at <> promoting experiences including ice walking and dogsledding, as well as local lodgings. The campaign will run until the end of March.

"Working with Yahoo, we created a unique content marketing campaign that helped us get the word out about the many exciting activities that Alberta offers travelers," said Jasmine Thompson, director of consumer marketing for the United States at Travel Alberta. "We wanted to inspire 'Winterlust' with beautiful photos and videos that capture the essence of Alberta, while offering helpful resources for people to plan their next travel adventure this winter. With our targeted campaign across Yahoo and Tumblr, we were able to connect with potential travelers and drive even greater engagement with our Tumblr page and guides to Alberta that inspire people to visit."

The campaign was developed in association with PHD, Critical Mass and C&B.
