Telefilm Canada readies Shortest Day event

Telefilm Canada will conduct a second annual national promotion called "The Shortest Day" on Dec. 19 to 21. The promotion will take the form of a series of free screenings of short films by Canadian filmmakers, shown on the days leading up to the shortest day of the year. The event this year will include 27 films organization into children's, family and comedy categories. Screenings will be held in approximately 60 venues nationally, including movie theatres, cultural centres, community spaces, schools, hospitals and public libraries. The event will also be sponsored by the National Film Board of Canada, and the Société de développement des entreprises culturelles. The promotion is being supported with social media activities and a website at <http://www.theshortestday.ca>.
