Canola growers prepare Food Day Canada promotion

The Winnipeg-based Manitoba Canola Growers Association has begun a social media promotion tied to Food Day Canada, which will take place on Aug. 2. The day encourages consumers to prepare meals made entirely from Canada-grown ingredients. The promotion will take place on Twitter on July 29, when various Canadian chefs, cookbook authors and food bloggers will post photographs of food they have prepared. Consumers will also be encouraged to post their own photos. Participants will be entered into a draw for prizes including cookbooks, cooking utensils, grocery store gift cards and branded merchandise. The promotion is being supported with a website at <http://www.canolaeatwell.com/fooddaycanada>.
"Posting food photos on social media is a popular trend and we want Canadians to showcase the ingredients they're using and the meals they're preparing by snapping photos and sharing them on Twitter," said Ellen Pruden, education and promotion manager of the Canola Eat Well program of the association. "Cook, capture, join in on the conversation and share your food photos using the hashtag '#OCanadaFood' to bring attention to the celebration."
