American Express Canada begins travel card campaign

American Express Canada has begun a new advertising campaign promoting its AeroplanPlus line of co-branded travel rewards credit cards. It also supports the company's Gold Rewards card. The campaign focuses on a special offer for new customers in the form of 25,000 bonus loyalty points for consumers who spend $500 in their first three months with a Gold Rewards card. The initiative, developed by OgilvyOne Worldwide, consists of 30- and 15-second television commercials, along with digital and out-of-home advertising and social media activities. The effort is aimed primarily at frequent travelers, with ads placed on travel websites, at airports and in in-flight media. Media planning was handled by MindShare. Public relations and social media work are being conducted by High Road Communications.

"There has been an unprecedented level of attention in the rewards card market over the past few months," said David Barnes, vice-president of advertising and communications at American Express Canada. "Many cardholders are considering their options right now, and this campaign focuses on the value and quality of service from American Express' travel rewards cards."
