Canadian Tourism Commission begins social media promotions
By Adnews Staff
The Canadian Tourism Commission has begun two new pilot projects using social media to encourage travel to Canada. The first program is being conducted in association with California-based social media agency Zuberance. It makes use of email messages to the customers of two tour operators: America Unlimited in Germany and Viajes El Corte Inglés in Mexico. Previous visitors to Canada are encouraged to submit an online review of their trip and then share it on social networks. The website also offers special offers from tour operators. The second program is being conducted in association with energy drink brand Red Bull and its Canadian Signature Series of athletic events. Through this program, the commission will receive brand exposure on Red Bull's collection of television, online, print and mobile properties. This will consist of advertising and integrated content intended to raise awareness of Canada as a tourism destination.
