Global News rebrands Global Maritimes
By Adnews Staff
Global News will rebrand its Global Maritimes property as Global Halifax and Global New Brunswick on April 15. The separation of the regional news service into two entities is intended to convey an increased focus on local news coverage. The rebranding initiative also includes the launch of new programming and the hiring of additional on-air personalities. The current one-hour regional News Final broadcast will be replaced with a local 30-minute News Final newscast for Halifax and New Brunswick. "The rebranding of Global Maritimes into Global Halifax and Global New Brunswick demonstrates our continued investment in creating a state of the art news operation centred on local reporting," said Troy Reeb, senior vice-president of Global News and station operations. "This move caps off what has already been a successful period of growth in the region and represents the importance we place on providing timely and poignant community coverage." Global is owned by Shaw Media.
