Advertising Standards Canada has released its Year in Review Ad Complaints Report for 2012. It contains information about consumer complaints submitted to organization last year for review under the Canadian Code of Advertising Standards. According to the group, in 2012 consumers submitted 1,310 complaints about 1,057 ads, representing a 28% decrease from the previous year. Of these, 116 complaints about 87 ads were determined to have contravened the code. "With the current uncertain economic climate, the nature of consumer's complaints about advertising is changing," ssaid Janet Feasby, vice-president at Advertising Standards Canada. "For the second year in a row more complaints were submitted about allegedly inaccurate or misleading advertising than about advertising consumers found offensive or inappropriate." The report is available from the organization's website at <http://www.adstandards.com>.
