Contempo Media buys fashion magazines

Contempo Media of Toronto has purchased fashion magazines S/Style & Fashion and M/Men of Style from publisher GD&C. Geoffrey Dawe, owner of GD&C, has joined Contempo as publisher of both titles and managing director of integrated publishing. Rita Silvan, formerly editor of Elle Canada, as editor-in-chief of S/Style & Fashion. "The rapidly growing women's luxury segment is underserved by Canadian media," said Contempo Media president John McGouran "With our established presence in the luxury space we will increase S/Style & Fashion's footprint to fill this strong market need. Geoffrey's leadership, experience and knowledge of the luxury segment as well as his proven track record will serve as tremendous assets in both the continued growth of Contempo and our ability to offer advertisers one-stop shopping and multi-platform integrated solutions."
