Toronto-based group buying websites and have agreed to merge. The combined companies will have 3.5 million registered users, including one million in the United States. The two brands will continue to operating separately during the early part of the year, then will be integrated into a single brand with a new website. No other details about the rebranding are currently available. The merger also includes Dealfind's restaurant guide. Ghassan Halazon, CEO of TeamBuy, will be CEO of the new entity. TeamBuy president Edward Yao and Dealfind chief operating officer Jason Redman will continue in these positions. "From a consolidation perspective, this merger gives us a rock solid foundation where one in every 10 Canadians is signed up to our service," said Halazon. "Over the past few years, both TeamBuy and Dealfind have chosen to re-imagine the original daily deal model in very similar ways. This makes the merger a perfect fit from an operational standpoint."
