Toronto-based Hill&Knowlton Strategies Canada has appointed Mike Coates to the position of chairman. He also remains chief executive officer of the agency. Goldy Hyder, currently general manager of the agency's Ottawa office, has been promoted to president, a position also previously held by Coates. Hyder was chief of staff to Joe Clark before joining the firm in 2001. In his new role, Hyder will be responsibile for sales, marketing and new business development in Canada. "I've led H&K for almost 18 years and it will continue to be my number one priority," said Coates. "However, the company is very well positioned with a dynamic new generation of leaders who can keep the momentum going with Goldy as its leader. This change gives me the opportunity to continue to build the Canadian business, do the client work I love, as well as better support our global organization."
