Transcontinental Media of Montreal has launched a new local auction website called The service is based on a barter program aimed at local businesses who advertise with Transcontinental Media's newspaper division in which users in Quebec, Ontario, Saskatchewan and the Atlantic provinces receive advertising space in exchange for goods or services of equal value. BidGo is intended to be a marketplace where these bartered items can be put up for auction. Retailers can also access a section of the site to sell their products. "Because it is based on an exclusive barter concept, the BidGo business model has enormous growth potential," said Stéphane Gagné, the company's vice-president of local digital solutions, new media and digital solutions group.
