Canadian Dermatology Association conducts tanning campaign
By Adnews Staff
The Ottawa-based Canadian Dermatology Association is conducting an online public service announcement campaign aimed at educating teenagers about the dangers of indoor tanning. The campaign consists of a video posted on Youtube that depicts young women using various household appliances to gain a tan. The video can also be found via Facebook, Twitter and the association's website at <http://www.dermatology.ca>. "We wanted to find a way to de-normalize tanning," said association past-president and project director Ian Landells. "You would never consider sticking your head in a waffle iron, so why would you choose to lie down in a tanning bed which is much more dangerous?" The campaign was developed by Ottawa-based McMillan.
