Blue Ant Media buys into Quarto Communications

Toronto-based Blue Ant Media has formed an agreement to purchase 15% of Toronto publisher Quarto Communications. The agreement includes an option for Blue Ant to increase its stake to 24.5% within a year. Quarto's properties include Cottage Life, Explore, Outdoor Canada and Canadian Home Workshop. The company also produces custom magazines, books, websites, social media applications and consumer shows. Blue Ant Media is currently awaiting CRTC approval to purchase a controlling interest in GlassBox Television. Al Zikovitz, who will remain CEO of Quarto, said the company will work to expand further into television and digital media. "We want to better serve our audience and our advertisers by expanding our reach to cover the broadest possible range of our consumers' interests and needs," said Zikovitz.
