A new sport-oriented social media website has launched at Nextsportstar.com. According to the Toronto-based company, the site combines features from other sites such as Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Kijiji and Craigslist. It is intended to be a meeting place for amateur athletes, teams, students and fans as well as amateur and professional coaches. Users can share information about their school, amateur and minor sports leagues, as well as their own sports achievements, statistics, photographs and videos. The site also offers blogs, polls, forums, chat rooms and classified ads. To promote the launch of the site, Nextsportstar.com has begun a contest called "$1 Million Dollars Up For Grabs" which will give away $800,000 to amateur athletes and $200,000 to school athletic programs.
