Maple Leaf Foods begins Top Dogs contest

Maple Leaf Foods of Toronto has begun a summer contest promotion called "Maple Leaf Top Dogs" in support of its line of hot dogs. Parent and child teams can enter by submitting a description of their favorite hot dog topping combinations through the company's Facebook page until Aug. 8. Ten finalists, selected by a judging panel, will be flown to Toronto at the end of August for a live cook-off. The winner will receive $25,000. Judging will be based on entry name, toppings used, quality, appearance, originality and taste. "Serving food that both parents and kids love and can enjoy together is a priority for us," said Andrew Pollock, senior vice-president of marketing at Maple Leaf Consumer Foods "The hunt for Canada's favorite Top Dog is really a marriage of these two things, allowing us to celebrate some of the one-of-a-kind hot dog recipes families create in their kitchens and backyard barbecues across Canada."
