Ontario Apple Growers conducts Winter Apple Ball promotion
By Adnews Staff
Ontario Apple Growers has begun a marketing initiative tied to the 200th anniversary of the McIntosh apple. The promotion, developed by Faye Clack Communications of Toronto, began with a free public event called the Winter Apple Ball, which took place yesterday in Toronto. The event featured an attempt to break the world record for apple-bobbing, apple-based food, arts and crafts, trivia games and other attractions. The promotion also includes an online contest and social media activities. "Forging an emotional connection is essential to creating brand loyalty," said Virginia Zimm, president of Faye Clack. "Throwing a free fairytalesque Winter Apple Ball to celebrate our local heritage highlighted the Ontario Apple Growers' dedication to giving back to the local community in honour of the McIntosh apple's 200th anniversary." The Ontario Apple Growers represents 260 commercial apple growers in the province.
