PayPal Canada of Toronto has begun a holiday season campaign conducted by online service Twitter. The campaign takes the form of "mall traffic reports" delivered through the service that contain information about the current crowd levels as various shopping malls. The Twitter feed also provides online shopping tips and retail news. "PayPal's goal this holiday season is to help those who are frustrated by the typical, overcrowded shopping experience to escape the mall," said Nicky Mezo, head of marketing at PayPal Canada. "With so many merchants now accepting PayPal through their websites, why not do more of your holiday shopping online, from the warmth and comfort of your home?" PayPal has also begun a contest promotion which Canadian consumers can enter for a chance to win a $2,500 online shopping spree. The contest, called "Escape the Mall," is being promoted through the company's Facebook page and a website at <http://www.paypal.ca/escapethemall>. Entrants are encouraged to vote on the best holiday gift from a number of options displayed by the site. The contest will run until Dec. 20.
