A new organization called the Location Based Marketing Association has launched in Toronto. The organization is intended to represent companies involved in advertising and marketing as it relates to location-specific promotion, including mobile, out-of-home, digital, and print advertisers. The association will work to educate advertisers, share best practices, establish guidelines and promote the services of member companies. "Location based marketing may seem counter-intuitive in the digital world where one might think location doesn't’t matter, but using location specific marketing tactics is a critical element for marketing and advertising success," said Asif Khan, founder of the association. "Our goal is to help organizations take better advantage of location targeted outreach for integrated campaigns using all marketing channels including mobile, digital, out of home advertising, application of consumer analytic data and achieving a better understanding of this emerging discipline."
