World Fishing Network readies Ultimate Fishing Town contest
By Adnews Staff
Specialty channel World Fishing Network will begin a contest on July 1 to find Canada's "Ultimate Fishing Town." The winning community will receive $25,000 to be used for fishing-related causes. In addition, the channel will air a 30-minute program about fishing in the winning town. Nominations will be accepted online at <http://www.wfn.tv/fishingtown> until Aug. 2. Once a town has been nominated, other residents can add their own stories, photographs or videos to the entry. The winning community will be selected by public voting. "As the number one participation sport in Canada, fishing is a key part of the summer experience," said Mark Rubinstein, president and CEO of World Fishing Network. "Knowing this, and that more people fish than play golf and tennis combined, we decided to search for WFN's Ultimate Fishing Town. We want people to get behind their towns, communities and cities and prove that they deserve the title of ultimate fishing town." The channel is promoting the contest with 30-second commercials, print ads and online ads.
