Hyundai Canada begins World Cup promotions

Hyundai Auto Canada of Markham, ON has begun a series of promotions tied to the 2010 World Cup soccer tournament. During the tournament, the automaker will operate an installation called the Hyundai Mobile Fan Zone that will stop at various Toronto locations. The installation will feature giveaways, freestyle soccer demonstrations and an oversized foosball table that can accommodate 16 simultaneous players. The company has also constructed a website at <http://www.worldcupfever.com> that generates random excuses visitors can use to get out of existing plans in order to watch the games. The site also includes a schedule of games, team updates, a downloadable mobile application and a cellphone ringtone. The site also links to Hyundai Canada's Facebook page, where visitors can create a virtual jersey to add to their own profiles. These initiatives were developed by Speed Promotions of Toronto. Hyundai is also promoting its connection to the World Cup with print, online, out-of-home and broadcast advertising.
