Online payment service provider PayPal Canada has begun a communications campaign. The public relations initiative is based on the results of an Ipsos Reid online survey into the ways in which Canadian shoppers plans to spend their time and money during the holiday season. According to the survey, approximately one third of Canadians plan to do at least some of their holiday shopping online. The initiative also includes email, online and display advertising, as well as a website at <http://www.paypal.ca/holiday> which will offer special deals from participating merchants. "Consumers are taking control of the time and money they spend," said Darrell MacMullin, general manager of PayPal Canada. "The research shows that shoppers are becoming savvier about their purchases and turning to online retailers offering the best holiday deals and promotions." The marketing campaign is being conducted by Publicis Modem of Toronto, while public relations are being conducted by Environics Communications.
