The Toronto Sketch Comedy Festival has signed sponsorship agreements with advertising agency Sharpe Blackmore Euro RSCG and digital production company Cartilage. The festival will host a performance of commercial parodies on Nov. 13. Performers will also be asked to improvise a mock commercial for a real product. A judging panel will award the best commercial with $500. "Every sketch troupe has a commercial parody," said William Cranor, executive producer at Cartilage. "We thought the ad community would appreciate seeing them all in one night. We also wanted to challenge top comedians to actually get a brief and write a commercial on the spot."
