Showcase readies new branding

Canwest Broadcasting will introduce new branding for specialty channel Showcase on Aug. 31 to coincide with the start of its fall season. The changes include a new logo and new on-air elements. "For years, Showcase has been a viewer favourite as the home of boundary-pushing television," said Muriel Solomon, vice-president of specialty marketing strategy at Canwest Broadcasting. "As part of the revamp, we wanted to broaden the brand's appeal while retaining Showcase's trademark sense of humour and bold, clever approach. We feel confident that viewers and advertisers are going to love our striking new look." The new branding and programming schedule will be supported by a marketing campaign that will break in mid-August, consisting of television, out-of-home, radio, print and online advertising on various Canwest properties. The channel's website at <http://www.showcase.ca> will also be redesigned and will include new features such as streaming video and a blog. Canwest is also planning similar updates for its digital specialty channels Showcase Diva and Showcase Action.
