Diageo promotes Johnnie Walker with Calgary mural

Diageo has begun an out-of-home campaign for its Johnnie Walker scotch brand in Calgary. The initiative consists of a wall mural in the city's downtown core, produced by Pattison Outdoor Advertising of Oakville, ON. The creative makes use of the brand's yellow-on-black "striding man" logo. "The process of finding an appropriate building for this mural was no small task," said Chris Roubekas, director of leasing and operations at Pattison. "To date only one other wall has been approved for mural designs by the City of Calgary Planning and Building Department. Third party advertising messages in downtown Calgary, whether they are standard poster panels or elaborate murals, are heavily restricted. This creative execution works extremely well in this larger than life format." The ad will remain on display through the summer.
