Insight Sports, CBC and credit card company Capital One Canada will conduct a contest called the "Capital One Million Dollar Button" during the 2008-09 Capital One Grand Slam of Curling series. During two curling competitions during the series, randomly selected spectators will be invited to throw a stone. The participants at each event who get their stones closest to the button on the ice will proceed to a semi-final round. Whoever wins the semi-final contest will have the chance to throw a stone during the Masters of Curling competition in January 2009. If the stone lands on the button, the contestant will win $1 million. "We're committed to continually developing and promoting the sport of curling, and what better way to get the fans involved than to get them on the ice," said Ian Cunningham, chief operating officer of Capital One Canada. "We hope to see a million dollar throw in January."
