Loblaw Companies has signed a four-year sponsorship agreement worth $4 million with Alpine Canada Alpin. The organization is the governing body for alpine ski racing in Canada. Loblaw will provide financial and nutritional resources to Canadian national ski racing teams. Loblaw will conduct this sponsorship under the name of its President's Choice brand. As part of the agreement, Canadian ski racers Larisa Yurkiw, Paul Stutz, Emilie Desforges and Karolina Wisniewska will wear President's Choice branding on their helmets during the 2007/08 season. "As the official nutritional sponsor to Canada's alpine ski team, President's Choice will provide support from meal planning, recipe development, and even product development, all of which will be available and appropriate for every consumer who shops our stores," said Galen Weston, executive chairman of the company.
Siemens Canada has signed a two-year sponsorship agreement with the Toronto-based Ontario Science Centre. The company will be both a general sponsor and the lead sponsor of a program called "Sci Fri" aimed at young people. "Partnering the Science Centre with one of the world's foremost technology companies will produce natural synergies for both organizations and further support our common goals of growing the next generation of science-confident citizens by tackling real world issues, interacting with current science and exploring through trial-and-error experimentation," said Lesley Lewis, CEO of the Ontario Science Centre.
