Federal Express Canada begins treasure hunt promotion

Federal Express Canada has begun a contest promotion called "X Marks the Spot." The initiative, developed by Rapp Collins of Toronto, will run nationally until November. Each time a customer ships a package internationally during the promotion, they will have a chance to win one of 1,500 prizes by entering the tracking number on a treasure map located at <http://www.fedex.ca/treasure>. Daily prizes will include electronics, gift certificates and cash. Weekly prizes include trips to Europe, China, Mexico and Las Vegas. The contest is being promoted with direct mail, email, website exposure and point-of-sale materials. "The entire contest promotion fits with the marketing objectives set forth by FedEx," said Andrea Cook, account director at Rapp Collins. "By tying in a worldwide treasure hunt we're able to engage the international shipper, offering them a unique experience and added value for shipping with FedEx. It gives them another reason to choose FedEx for their international shipping."
