Sharp Electronics holds Aquos Golf Championship Giveaway

Mississauga-based Sharp Electronics of Canada has begun an online contest called the “Aquos Golf Championship Giveaway” to increase brand awareness of its Aquos line of LCD television sets. Canadians who visit <http://www.sharpgolf.ca> can enter a draw for one of 12 prize packages consisting of a 37-inch LCD television and a set of Callaway golf clubs. The grand prize winner will receive a television, a flight for four to Toronto and four sets of golf clubs, along two rounds of golf and two nights accommodation at the Delta Rocky Crest Resort in Muskoka. Participants can also receive extra entries in the draw by signing up to receive and answering correctly a series of weekly trivia questions. Sharp is promoting the contest with a national media campaign on TSN and CTV. The creative includes 10- and 15-second commercials during broadcasts of the PGA Championships, the Bell Canadian Open and other non-golf programming. Banner advertising on the TSN.ca website are also in use. “Sharp has kept a close eye on the demographic purchasing high-end LCD TVs and we discovered that there has always been a noticeable link between our consumers and golf,” said Carmine Cinerari, vice-president of the consumer products division at Sharp. “The Aquos Golf Championship Giveaway is a great way of gathering intelligence and finding better ways of communicating with our target market directly.” The contest will close on September 10. The promotion was developed by Promotivate International of Toronto. Public relations are being handled by Maverick Public Relations of Toronto.
