Bell Mobility promotes wireless data network
By Adnews Staff
Bell Mobility has begun a new marketing initiative in Ontario and Quebec to promote its 1xEVDO wireless data network. The first phase of the campaign involves promotional workers distributing information about the service at local events in large urban centres. The workers, called the “Bell Mobility Speed Patrol” will visit the Ontario cities of Toronto, Ottawa, Hamilton, Oakville, Burlington and Mississauga, as well as the Quebec cities of Montreal and Quebec City, during the campaign. The workers will wear uniforms and travel with a portable jail cell. They will perform product demonstrations and hand out citations for wireless devices that do not use Bell’s EVDO service. The citations will contain limited time offers and information on various Bell Mobility products. The second phase of the campaign, which will run through September, is aimed at customers in smaller communities. During the campaign, Bell Mobility will install wireless networking service in North Bay, Sudbury, Parry Sound, Collingwood, Wasaga Beach, Kitchener/Waterloo, Bracebridge, Sault Ste. Marie, Kingston, Saguenay, Gatineau, St-Jerome, Sherbrooke, Trois-Rivieres and St. Saveur. To promote the availability of these services, the company has begun a program called “Connected to Communities: Neighbourhood Enhancement Program.” With the participation of the local mayors, Bell will spend $5,000 on three community enhancement projects chosen by the residents of each community. This campaign is being handled by Cossette, Blitz and Porter Novelli.
