Royal Canadian Mint promotes coin recycling program in Toronto
By Adnews Staff
The Royal Canadian Mint has begun an advertising campaign in the Greater Toronto Area to encourage participation in its coin recycling program. The program, which is being operated in conjunction with Coinstar, makes use of automated coin counting machines located in grocery stores. The campaign encourages consumers to deposit their accumulated change in the machines, which return vouchers that can be redeemed for cash with the stores’ cashiers. The seven-week campaign began in late June. It consists of 30-second radio commercials and ads on shopping carts and approximately 5,000 bags in 89 Toronto-area Dominion, A&P, Ultra Food & Drug and Barn Market Stores. The creative uses the tagline, “Change is good.” In-store promotions, a media relations program and Web materials at Mint.ca are also in use.
