Teletoon readies five online promotions

Effem Canada of Toronto will begin a new promotion for its Skittles brand of candy on March 27 on the English network of animation specialty channel Teletoon. The promotion includes a game hosted on a brand-specific area of the Teletoon.com website, supported by on-air materials. Players can win prizes by achieving high scores and by entering UPC codes from Skittles packages. One winner per day will receive one of three prize packages. The prizes include Skittles products, backpacks, snow cone makers, MP3 players and handheld video game systems. Teletoon is also conducting a promotion in support of the series "6Teen," again consisting of an online contest supported by on-air exposure. The two winners of this contest will appear in animated form in a one-hour special episode of the show that will air in the fall. The contest will run from March 6 to March 26. The channel is also promoting the March 31 theatrical release of the movie "Ice Age: The Meltdown" with an online contest that began on March 6 and will run for four weeks. Additional online contest promotions this month include an initiative aimed at mothers in support of a series called "Dancing in the Clouds" that will air from March 20 to April 14. Mothers can visit the Teletoon.com website to enter a draw for a My Little Pony party for their child and 15 friends. Finally, Lego will also conduct an online contest with Teletoon from March 27 to April 16 to promote a new extension to its Bionicle product line.
