Magazines Canada of Toronto has retained Doug Agency, also based in Toronto, as its agency of record. The firm will handle strategic and creative development of the organization's upcoming association communication. Doug won the assignment in a review process that began with a request for proposals in December. "It was clear to us that Doug Agency understands magazines, their relationship with the reader and the role they play as a vehicle for advertisers to reach consumers," said Gary Garland, executive director of advertising services at Magazines Canada. "We see a successful track record built on strategic thinking, outstanding creative and a competitive attitude." Magazines Canada is a not-for-profit association that represents approximately 300 Canadian content consumer publications.
