Frito Lay promotes new Asian flavours

Frito Lay Canada of Toronto is preparing a campaign to promote several new varieties of potato chip that make use of Asian-inspired flavours. The new products include Lay's Wasabi, Lay's Spicy Curry, Frito Lay Onion Rings and Frito Lay Shrimp Chips. The campaign will begin this month with print ads in the Toronto and Vancouver editions of Chinese-language newspapers Ming Pao and Sing Tao. Television ads will run nationally on Fairchild TV and Talentvision. Regional television ads will run in Toronto on Omni2 and in Vancouver on Channel M. Closed captioning billboards will also run on CityTV in Toronto and Vancouver. Print ads will appear in Now and Metro in Toronto and in the Georgia Straight and Metro in Vancouver. The campaign, like the product line, is aimed primarily at Canada's Asian community. Additional support will include the sponsorship of various Toronto and Vancouver Chinese community events this summer, including KiteFest and Tastes of Asia. The campaign was created by Prime Advertising with support from BBDO Toronto. Media buying is being handled by OMD and Prime Advertising.
