Youth Culture Group readies Vervegirl Toronto
By Adnews Staff
Youth Culture Group is preparing to introduce a new magazine called Vervegirl Toronto. The digest-sized publication will be launched in 330 schools in the Greater Toronto Area in June. "Our research over the past five years has continually shown that teen girls want and need a city-based magazine that speaks directly to them," said Kaaren Whitney-Vernon, president of Youth Culture Group. The magazine will offer stories on fashion, shopping, entertainment and trends. Jaishree Drepaul, has been appointed editor-in-chief of the magazine. "Our main focus will be on key neighbourhoods, malls, events and retailers that today's teens want to know about", said key account manager Meaghan Clark. "There isn't a media property that targets and speaks directly to Toronto teen girls. This gives us a huge advantage as well as an important responsibility to provide teens with current and useful information." Youth Culture Group plans to create additional city-specific magazines in other markets in 2007.
