The Co-operators begins new campaign

Insurance company The Co-operators, based in Guelph, ON, broke a new national television advertising campaign yesterday. The two 30-second commercials promote the range of the company's financial security services. The ads will air for nine weeks on networks and specialty channels. The overall campaign will run for at least two years, with new ads being released as the initiative continues. "The new ads reflect the fact that Canadian families, who are typically busy and hard-working, have a wide variety of insurance and financial security concerns," said Rob Martin, director of marketing strategy and brand management at The Co-operators. "The message is that Co-operators agents have an extremely broad range of products from which to create insurance and investment plans. Presented in an entertaining and light-hearted way, the spots also reflect the approachability of Co-operators agents and their friendly yet professional manner."

The ads use the tagline, "Canadian Dairy: Here for Good." The 30-second commercial broke in mid-September, while the 60-second ad will be releases in late October. This ad will also run in theatres in November.

Website roundup

Toronto-based specialty channel Aboriginal Peoples Television Network launched a new website last week called DigitalDrum.ca. The site, which is aimed primarily at Aboriginal youth, is intended to showcase Aboriginal culture, history and people. Its content includes video from the channel's programming as well as user-generated video, audio, text and images. "We pride ourselves on being an innovative and fresh young network and want to appeal to our Aboriginal youth in a way that encourages them to reconnect with the teachings of our Elders and to interact with one another directly in their medium of choice," said Jean LaRose, chief executive officer of APTN. "By providing the largest collection of Aboriginal video content on-line, we believe the DigitalDrum.ca site will be an invaluable resource to Aboriginal schools, educational programs, and community organizations."

The Kontent Group of Toronto has redesigned the website of Inside Entertainment magazine, located at <http://www.insideeonline.com>. In addition to a new visual style, the modified site includes new photograph and video galleries, daily news updates, Web-exclusive features, event listings and online contests.
