MACLAREN MCCANN RIDING GO TRANSIT
By Adnews Staff
Toronto-based Go Transit has chosen its own advertising agency for the first time, appointing Toronto-based MacLaren McCann for the next two years. MacLaren McCann's appointment is effective January 3, 2000. An option to extend the term for another year can be exercised at a later date. The appointment marks the first time Go Transit has chosen its own ad shop since becoming a municipal agency this past August. In the past, Go Transit was considered a provincial agency and the process of choosing an agency was done through the Ontario Advertising Review Board. MacLaren McCann was chosen from a shortlist of four agencies including: McDonnell Haynes Advertising, DCC Communications and Grey Canada. The incumbent on the account was Publicis SMW. Go Transit plans to continue to focus its marketing on the convenience and flexibility of its train and bus service with an objective to attract more customers and encourage existing customers to travel more often.
