CHRYSLER SPENDING A DAY AT THE BEACH

Chrysler Canada of Windsor, Ontario is launching the second advertisement in its "Everybody needs a minivan" campaign that began airing in 1997. Created by the Toronto offices of BBDO Canada, the spot, entitled "Beach", began airing in NHL Playoffs this week. The "Beach" ad is airing in rotation with the recently launched "Ghost Story" ad. The two spots are designed to demonstrate an interesting use for minivans. The "Beach" ad features a couple enjoying a romantic dinner on a private beach, complete with waiter in full black-tie and a three-piece string section. Through flashbacks, the viewer realizes the event was possible because of the minivan which is delivered through a voice-over line at the end: "Apparently, having the right vehicle can help you impress the opposite sex". The "Ghost Story" spot made its debut early in the playoffs. The spot features a family where the dad and son have retreated to their minivan, abandoning their tent in the pouring rain. Both ads will run through the spring and summer. Chrysler Canada Ltd., is a division of DaimlerChrysler Corporation with responsibility for the Dodge, Jeep and Chrysler brands in Canada.
