TeleSpectrum Worldwide of Prussia, Pennsylvania has agreed to merge with International Data Response Corp. of Rancho Santa Fe, California. IDRC is the parent company of S&P Data Corp. of Toronto. TeleSpectrum and S&P are telemarketing firms. The deal will give the company 60 U.S. call centres and four in Canada. The company will operate under the TeleSpectrum name. "This deal combines complementary strengths of two firms that are already very competitive in the Canadian and U.S. teleservices market," S&P president and CEO David Parkes says in a release. As part of TeleSpectrum, S&P Data and IDRC will have the additional resources and depth required to be an even more exciting force in this rapidly growing field, both in North America and abroad." The deal is still subject to approval by the boards of both companies and requires regulatory and shareholder approval. It is expected to close by mid-May.
