SPORTS CHEK SPONSORS AIR MILES PROGRAM

The Forzani Group of Calgary has become a sponsor of The Loyalty Group's Air Miles Reward program. Under the deal, shoppers at Forzani's Sport Chek outlets will receive one Air Mile for every $10 spent at the sports retailer. Sport Chek will promote its involvement in the reward program using in-store signs, radio and newspaper ads, as well as flyers. The campaign will be created in-house. Sport Chek is a specialty retailer of general sporting goods including sports equipment, athletic, leisure and recreational footwear and apparel. The Forzani Group is a specialty sporting goods retailer operating under eight banners including Sport Chek, Sports Experts, Forzani's, Locker Room, RnR, Jersey City, Podium Sports, Zone Athletik/Intersport and Total Sports. It owns and operates 139 corporate stores and 151 franchise stores. The Loyalty Group of Toronto launched the Air Miles Reward Program in March 1992, offering consumers the opportunity to collect Air Miles while shopping for everyday goods and services. Over 6.3 million Canadian households are enrolled in the program and over 40,000 rewards are redeemed monthly. There are currently 130 participating sponsors in the Air Miles program. In the past year, eight new sponsors have joined the program including The Bay, The Brick, the Liquor Control Board of Ontario and A&P/Dominion.
