LES AFFAIRES GOES ON-LINE

Montreal-based Transcontinental Publications has put its Les Affaires business newspaper on-line. The site features Les Affaires-500 database, a list of about 1,000 private or public, Quebec, Canadian and foreign controlled companies that have an office or other facilities in Quebec. Users can consult the individual file on each company or sort companies by various categories. The database includes information on the company such as the country of residents of the majority of shareholders, the geographical breakdown of revenues in Quebec, stock exchanges where company shares are traded, year of establishment, names of senior executives and comparisons with previous year's data in areas such as number of employees and sales. In addition, users of the site will find Les Affaires main headlines, a list of features in the works, the paper's mission statement and press releases. Users can also subscribe to the newspaper on-line.
