The Montreal-based Cancer Research Society has begun a fundraising campaign called “We Need You” to coincide with World Health Day on April 7. The social media and email campaign is intended to raise awareness of the importance of cancer research and various research projects underway in Canada. The effort will feature a number of Canadian cancer researchers, including Franco Vizeacoumar of the University of Saskatchewan and Laura Trinkle-Mulcahy of Ottawa University, as well as cancer survivor B.V. Garabedian, a cancer survivor and author Ami McKay.
“Through the 'We Need You!' campaign, we are sending out a cry for help so that we can fund a greater number of cancer research projects,” said Manon Pepin, president and CEO of the Cancer Research Society. “It is crucial to invest in a solid research and innovation ecosystem so that decisive breakthroughs to outsmart cancer can be made.”
