ThinkAG website launches

Manitoba-based charitable organization Agriculture in the Classroom Canada, along with 10 provincial member organizations, has launched a new website at <http://www.thinkag.ca>. The site encourages students to pursue careers in the agriculture and food sectors. The site is intended to demonstrate to students how their interests match up with careers in agriculture and food, represented by approximately 70 career profiles. The site also provides information about post-secondary education options and scholarships. Food trading and distribution company Cargill has signed-on as the presenting sponsor of the site. It is also being supported by Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada and Farm Credit Canada.

“This is the first website of its kind in Canada, guiding students to uncover how their futures can fit into the agriculture industry,” said Shayla Hertz, manager of ThinkAG. “We need to help students see themselves, and how their skills fit, in agriculture and food. We want them to know that people who have not grown up on a farm or with an ag background are often the most valuable additions to agriculture because they question the status quo. New and fresh perspectives are needed in an industry that's forever growing in complexity and vital to feeding our world.”
