United Steelworkers begins election campaign

Toronto-based labour union United Steelworkers has begun a advertising campaign in advance of the upcoming federal elections. The radio and television ads focus on the ways in which, according to the union, the Liberal government has failed to meet its commitments to Canadian indigenous communities. The ads will run on the APTN network and related stations.
“Particularly painful was the treatment of Jody Wilson-Raybould by Prime Minister Justin Trudeau,” said Ken Neumann, national director of United Steelworkers. “Firing the first indigenous attorney general for doing her job and then kicking her out of the Liberal caucus was inexcusable. Refusing to apologize once the Liberal-appointed ethics commissioner found Trudeau broke the law on this matter was a show of true disrespect.”
