Canadian Wood Council launches WoodFacts website

The Ottawa-based Canadian Wood Council has constructed a new website at <http://woodfacts.cwc.ca> to promote the use of Canadian wood as a building material for five- and six-storey mid-rise buildings. The site is aimed primarily at builders, contractors, architects, environmentalists, media and policymakers. It offers a collection of information related to safety, building codes, environmental impact and economics, including case studies, reports, images and videos, as well as blogs and news items. The site is intended to raise awareness of wood construction in advance of upcoming changes to the Model National Building Code of Canada.

"The truth about building with wood is that it is safe, costs less, is versatile, meets code and has a lighter environmental impact," said Michael Giroux, president of the Canadian Wood Council. "It's incredibly important for Canadians across a wide spectrum to understand these facts, particularly as we find the construction industry evolving and incorporating new and exciting wood technologies into buildings."

The Canadian Wood Council is a national association representing manufacturers of Canadian wood products used in construction.
