Benjamin News Group to cease operations

Benjamin News Group of Bois des Filion, QC, will discontinue operations on April 4. The company, founded in 1917, distributes magazines and books to 7,500 retailers in Quebec, New Brunswick and Ontario. The firm has 225 employees. According to the company, publishers and retailers previously served by Benjamin News will now be served by Metro News, The News Group, Socadis, Metropolitan Distribution Services and Les Messageries de Presse Internationale. Paul Benjamin, president of Benjamin News, will remain president of distribution cooperative Canadian Mass Media.
