Boingo Media expands Canadian inventory

Boingo Wireless of Los Angeles has expanded its wireless Internet advertising service in Canada by forming an agreement with Boldstreet Wireless of Ottawa. Boldstreet operates wireless access hotspots in airports and shopping malls nationally. Under the terms of the non-exclusive agreement, Boingo will sell display and video advertising associated with these hotspots at eight airports in British Columbia, Ontario and Alberta, as well as 15 malls in Alberta and Ontario. According to the company, this inventory has a potential collective audience of 150 million per year. "Our new agreement with Boldstreet will allow the Boingo Media team to introduce brand marketers to a rich audience of affluent, connected consumers in buying mode at premier Wi-Fi network locations," said Jon Landa, vice-president of advertising sales at Boingo Media. "The platform offers the scale, flexibility and creative solutions that deliver new audiences to leading international brands, and our cost-per-engagement model provides enhanced transparency and accountability to our advertising partners." Boingo Media has similar advertising agreements with approximately 800 Starbucks stores, hotels, restaurants and recreation areas in Canada.

In related news, Boingo Media has hired Jennifer DeFrenza as advertising sales director in Toronto. She previously managed advertising sales for Expedia and TheWeatherNetwork.com.
