Canadian Alliance of Student Associations begins election campaign
By Adnews Staff
The Canadian Alliance of Student Associations has begun a social media campaign intended to raise awareness of education and student voting in the lead-up to the forthcoming federal election. The campaign, based on a website at <http://www.studentsneedtovote.ca>, includes information about the post-secondary education policies of various parties, voter information for students, a blog and a collection of videos. "Students live on social networks and media, and this campaign and website engages students and politicians online," said Zach Dayler, national director of the organization. "This might be the first Twitter election, which means that the conversation will be taking place on our doorsteps." The Canadian Alliance of Student Associations is a national not-for-profit organization composed of 26 student associations representing approximately 320,000 students.
