By Adnews Staff
Canderel Properties Ltd. of Montreal wants to turn Montreal's Forum into an entertainment complex and will look for an agency "shortly" to help promote it, Canderel spokesperson Daniel Peritz told Adnews yesterday. Currently, the company plans to focus on PR. It hasn't decided yet if it will hire a PR agency now and then hire an ad agency closer to the opening of the complex, or if it will hire a full-service agency from the start, he said. Canderel has signed a letter of intent to acquire the Forum from Club de Hockey Canadien. The company hopes to open the complex by the end of 1997.I t will feature 30 movie screens, a virtual reality centre and theme restaurants. Montreal city council is expected to vote soon on a zoning change at the site from institutional and community use to commercial, to allow the entertainment complex. The Forum has stood empty since March when the NHL Canadiens moved into the new Molson Centre. The building is owned by Trizec Properties and is leased to the Canadiens until 2008.
